August activities
Following on from July activities in Scotland, August sees the days shortening a little, together with a mixture of hot weather, rainy days and even summer storms. Scotland’s famous heather moors are flowering purple this month. If you enjoy watersports such as kayaking and snorkelling, this second half of the summer is when our coastal seas are approaching their warmest temperatures. Hiking and biking trails should be in good nick, but beware the midges! And birders will find many young bird species on the move now. September can be a good time for even more warm-weather activities.
